Color with me – The Lake from Skymnings Timman, day two

So, continuing on with the lake from Skymnings Timman by Maria Trolle, we’ll cover the lake itself and some foliage today.

Stuff used on day one:
Derwent Procolour (set of 72)
Pencils listed in order of appearance (note, no repeats in the list). Feel free to use other pencils and/or replace some colorways entirely with something else you like

  • Racing Green
  • Sap Green
  • Light Moss
  • Blue Grey
  • Chocolate
  • Burnt Yellow Ochre
  • Champagne
  • Burnt Carmine
  • Geranium Lake
  • Rose Pink
  • Vandyke Brown
  • Felt Grey
  • Gunmetal
  • Storm Grey
  • Copper Beech
  • Sky Blue
  • Salmon
  • Mineral Green
  • Midnight Blue
  • Kingfisher Blue
  • Turquoise Green
  • Cedar Green
  • Moss Green
  • Grass Green
  • Foliage
  • Grape
  • Imperial Purple
  • Soft Violet

I find myself struggling with the pencils quite a bit, they layer well but they feel very hard and waxy, so far I’m not all that enamoured with them but we’ll see, still early days of testing. No real tips for you today apart from just having fun. Don’t worry about exact color matches if you’re not using Procolours and want to follow along, just use what you have.

End result of day two:

Soon I hope to show you a book but since it’s raining nonstop here and very very dark, I find it hard to light the book properly in a video so that it looks okay. So it might have to wait for better, lighter days.

Last part of this color along will be up next week and then we’ll jump straight into a new one after that. I’ll be trying my best to keep it one video a week. I’m going back to work from maternity leave next Friday and the pace of life will change dramatically with it, we’ll see how this one a week will hold up to that challenge. Fingers crossed!

All parts of this tutorial:
Day one – trees
Day two – lake, some foliage
Day three – everything else, finishing touches
